“Yes” to God’s Promises
Today, we’re going to talk about something really special—promises. Do you know what a promise is? A promise is like a pinky swear; it’s when someone says they will do something for sure. But did you know that God has made promises too? And God’s promises are like stars; you can always see them shining and they never go away.
Our Bible verse, from a book called 2 Corinthians, says, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” That’s a fancy way of saying that every promise God makes is a big “Yes!” and “Amen!” That means God never forgets, and He always keeps His word. Isn’t that amazing?
Let’s talk about some of the promises God has made to us:
Promise of Love: God promises to love us no matter what. Just like your mommy and daddy love you even when you make a mess or forget to do your chores, God’s love is even bigger and never ends.
Promise of Being with Us: Ever felt scared at night? God promises that He is with us all the time, even when we can’t see Him. He’s like the best superhero friend you can ever have!
Promise of Listening: When we pray, which is just talking to God, He promises to listen. It’s like whispering to the wind and knowing the wind hears you.
Promise of Caring: God promises to take care of us. Just like the birds in the sky and the lilies in the field, He looks after us. It’s like having a guardian angel who’s always there.
Now, sometimes, it’s hard to believe in these promises, especially when we are sad, or things don’t go our way. But just like the sun comes up every morning, God’s promises are always true. We can trust in them because God is like the best pinky swear keeper ever!
So, next time you’re worried or afraid, remember God’s “Yes” and “Amen.” You can say, “Thank you, God, for your promises,” and imagine placing your little worries in big, safe hands.

Dear God, thank You for Your promises that are like stars and sunshine. Help us to remember them, especially when we are scared or alone. And help us to be promise keepers too, just like You. Amen.

The word “Amen” has been used for a very long time, and it comes from a Hebrew word that means “sure” or “true.” It’s a little word, but it’s powerful because it shows that we have faith, which means we believe in something even when we can’t see it with our eyes.
When the Bible talks about “Amen,” it’s like it’s putting a stamp of “Yes, this is true!” on God’s promises. So, every time we read a promise from God in the Bible and say “Amen,” we’re saying we know that promise is true and we’re waiting for it to happen just like God said it would.

하나님의 약속의 말씀에 “아멘”하기
오늘은 ‘약속’에 대해 정말 특별한 이야기를 해 보려고 해요. 약속이 뭔지 알아요? 약속은 새끼손가락으로 맹세하는 것과 같은 것으로, 누군가가 어떤 일을 확실히 하겠다고 말하는 것이에요. 그런데, 하나님도 약속을 하셨다는 것을 알고 계셨나요? 하나님의 약속은 별과 같아서 여러분들은 항상 별처럼그 약속이 빛나는 것을 볼 수 있고 또, 결코 사라지지 않아요.
고린도후서 2장에 나오는 성경 구절은 ” 하나님의 약속은 얼마든지 그리스도 안에서 예가 되니 그런즉 그로 말미암아 우리가 아멘 하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 되느니라”라고 말합니다. 이 말은 하나님께서 하시는 모든 약속이 “예!”와 “아멘!”이라는 큰 소리로 이루어진다는 것을 멋지게 표현한 말입니다. 즉, 하나님은 결코 잊지 않으시고 항상 그분의 말씀을 지키신다는 뜻입니다. 놀랍지 않나요?
하나님께서 우리에게 하신 몇 가지 약속에 대해 이야기해 봅시다:
사랑의 약속: 하나님은 무슨 일이 있어도 우리를 사랑하시겠다고 약속하셨어요. 여러분이 집안을 엉망으로 만들거나 집안일을 잊어버려도 엄마 아빠가 항상 사랑해주시는 것 … 그 이상으로, 하나님의 사랑은 더 크고 끝이 없답니다.
우리와 함께하시겠다는 약속: 밤에 무서운 기분이 든 적이 있나요? 하나님은 우리가 그분을 볼 수 없을 때에도 항상 우리와 함께 계신다고 약속하세요. 그분은 여러분이 가질 수 있는 최고의 슈퍼히어로 친구 같은 분이세요!
경청의 약속: 우리가 기도할 때, 그러니까 하나님께 말씀드릴 때, 그분은 들으시겠다고 약속하십니다. 그것은 마치 바람에게 속삭이면 바람이 내 말을 듣는 것과 같습니다.
돌보심의 약속: 하나님은 우리를 돌보시겠다고 약속하십니다. 하늘의 새와 들판의 백합처럼 그분은 우리를 돌보십니다. 항상 곁에 있는 수호 천사가 있는 것과 같습니다.
때때로, 특히 슬프거나 일이 뜻대로 되지 않을 때는 이러한 약속을 믿기 어려울 때가 있어요. 하지만 매일 아침 태양이 떠오르는 것처럼 하나님의 약속은 언제나 진실합니다. 하나님은 약속을 반드시 지키시는 분이기 때문에 우리는 그 약속을 믿을 수 있습니다!
그러니 앞으로 걱정되거나 두려울 때는 하나님의 “예”와 “아멘”을 기억하세요. “하나님, 당신의 약속에 감사합니다.”라고 기도하고 작은 걱정을 크고 안전한 하나님의 손에 맡긴다고 상상해 보세요.

하나님, 별들과 햇살 같은 당신의 약속에 감사합니다. 특히 두렵거나 외로울 때 그 약속을 기억할 수 있도록 도와주세요. 그리고 우리도 당신처럼 약속을 지키는 사람이 되게 도와주세요. 아멘.
